Vintage

Description

Made from 100% Syrah grapes, this deep purple wine shows elegance and delicacy from aromatic notes of cassis, blackberries and some baking spices. On the palate, fresh black fruits are accompanied by subtle silky tannins that coat the taste buds. The complexity created by these various dimensions persists throughout the finish.

Harvested manually and destemmed up to 40%, fermentation occurs with wild yeasts until making its way into barrels for malolactic conversion. They spend about 15-18 months in barrels, of which two-thirds are new. Total production is merely 2150 bottles.

Producer Info

Aurélien was only 22 years old when he first decided to found his own domaine in 2002. Although he does not come from a winemaking family, working in the vineyards throughout his teenage years allowed him to acquire, develop and hone his skills on the field as well as in the winery. While starting off with merely 1.2 hectares of rented vines and vinifying at his friend and mentor François Villard, he steadily purchased and replanted vineyards, building up to 8 hectares as of today.

Aurélien has been practicing organic farming since 2004 and focuses on the pure expression of the grapes and vineyards in his winemaking. Using native yeasts, limiting new oak and bottling without fining or filtration are only a few techniques he uses to articulate his passion.
